Pelicans Unlikely To Trade J.J. Redick Following Stan Van Gundy Hire

The New Orleans Pelicans are unlikely to trade J.J. Redick following the hiring of Stan Van Gundy. Redick played a role in the Pelicans hiring Van Gundy.

“I would be surprised if they trade J.J. Redick,” said Brian Windhorst on his podcast. “Redick was one of the drawing cards for Van Gundy there. He coached him in Orlando.

“Early in the process, I was told Griff came to J.J. to sort of get a scouting report on Stan Van Gundy and it was J.J.’s strong recommendation that helped continue to pursue him.”

Redick has one season remaining on his current contract at the age of 36.

“I think J.J. is going to end up being Stan’s right hand man on the roster.”
