Pat Connaughton Displacing Small Businesses, Residents With Plans To Tear Down Historic Building
Pat Connaughton of the Milwaukee Bucks is leading an investor group with plans to begin developing a new apartment building in the Brewers Hill neighborhood in Milwaukee.
Approximately a half-dozen small businesses in a historic, two-story building will be forced to move for the apartment building that will be built after the existing building is demolished.
The 13,400-square-foot building\'s tenants, both small businesses and residents in two apartments, are being displaced.
Connaughton agreed to sign a three-year, $16 million deal with the Bucks last week.
\"This is not \'progress!\' Because of people like you, Milwaukee will become another generic, corporate-owned city,\" Mary Carolan, a Madam Chino customer, wrote in an email to Connaughton that she shared with several news media outlets.
